Dhanu Yatra - Odisha


Dhanu Yatra is celebrated to dedicate Lord Krishna , when he visited to Mathura observed at Bargarh a western part of Odisha about 350 km  from Bhubaneswar.. The origins of the Dhanu yatra at Bargarh are unclear, but it has been organized since 1948 annually. The city of Bargarh becomes Mathura, the river Jira becomes Yamuna and the village Amapalli on the other bank of the river becomes Gopa.  A gorgeously decorated stage is erected in the heart of Bargarh to serve as  Kansa Darbar. An elephant is engaged for the royal transport.

Dhanuyatra is the theatrical presentation of Krishna Leela of Devaki with Vashudev till the death of Kansa as described in the scriptures. According to  Puranic descriptions different acts performed in different place.The drama and reality get inextricably fused in many palces. The festival continues for 7 to 11 days preceding 'Pausa Purnima', the full-moon day of 'Pausa', which celebrates  in December-January every year. The whole night entertainment programmes, performances are held from 3 P.M. to 9 P.M.

Maa Ghatagaon Tarini - Odisha

The word "Maa" means Mother in the odia language.Ghatagaon Tarini is the famous place in Odisha. The Shakti shrines and is one of the chief presiding Goddesses for Maa Tarini. The place is belongs to at Ghatagaon, Keonjhar, District (Odisha) in India.Ghatagaon is only 45 km from Keonjhar town.

Maa Tarini is always depicted as a red face with two large eyes and a mark in the middle which serves as an indication for a nose and also a tilak.The origin of Shakti or worship of the Earth as a female embodiment of power is found across  all over the world.

Kalijai Temple Odisha

Kalijai Temple is located  in Chilika Lake Near Balugan of Khurda District of Odisha ,India.

Airport: approximately 120 km from  the nearest airport Bhubaneshwar.
 
An island provides an excellent destination for pilgrims as well as tourists. Every year in winter season and special in January, Makar Sankrantia a huge gala fair is held during this festival.The Chilika lake is the largest brakish water lagoon in the continent. The sunset is quite enjoying with the mountains and the blue sky. The blue watered Chilika is a gift of nature. Many poets have written in their poetry about "The Chilika and Kalijai ".

Chilika is at about 905 square kilometres in area and in rainy season, it is almost 1165 sq.kms.
For this Chilika is a holy place.Nalaban is known for shrine of Birds' Sanctuary.
In winter season th birds come from devious like America, Australia, Siberia, Canada for food and concealment.In winter season the birds in lakh, almost 221 varieties are seen during the beginning
of October  .

Anecdote has it that a  girl named Jaai  , who wasn't  prepared  to marry. When along with her father was going to marry  with her husband in her law's house which was on an island in Chilika Lake.. They had a ferry to across the lake. Odisha's coast is very aslope to Cyclones and during this boat trip they encountered with a severe Cyclone, as a result their boat capsized in the Chilika Lake.
Except the girl Jaai all the boatmen and her father survived this event . They search for her but were unable to find her. After this accidental death of that newly wed girl, she became the Goddess of people residing nearby and till now, she is worshiped as an Amsa of Kali.
